Two neighboring cities on the Treasure Coast
Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce are neighbors in St. Lucie County. Port St. Lucie is one of Florida's fastest growing big cities, and Fort Pierce is the older county seat with its own port, downtown and Haitian community. I-95, the Florida Turnpike and US 1 connect them, and both cities share the same courthouse and the same trauma center.
Lascaze Law's only office is in Aventura, but distance does not decide your case. Treasure Coast clients consult with Attorney Dolina Lascaze by phone or Zoom, sign electronically and share records on secure platforms, with the same direct access to the attorney as an office visit. You can also arrange to meet in person.
Dolina Lascaze began her career as a prosecutor and then spent about 19 years on the insurance and defense side, including trial work and senior leadership at a major insurer. She knows how insurers weigh liability, medical records and the risk of trial, and she now uses that to prepare claims for injured people.
Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce: roads, claims and local details
Port St. Lucie accident lawyer
About 268,000 residents
Port St. Lucie is Florida's seventh largest city, with about 268,000 residents (Census estimate, July 2025), up about 31 percent from the 2020 census. That much growth in a few years puts new drivers, new roads and new construction on the same streets. CBS12 reported that the city had 5,540 crashes in 2024, about 15 a day. The police department points out that, per person, Port St. Lucie ranks third safest among 19 large Florida cities, but a city that size still produces a steady stream of injury claims.
Peacock Boulevard and St. Lucie West Boulevard have been undergoing redesigns, and the Crosstown Parkway extension and its bridge over the North Fork opened in 2019. Port St. Lucie Police take crash reports through an online records portal. The only designated trauma center in St. Lucie County is HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, a Level II center, so a serious injury usually means a trip north.
Golf carts on city streets
Golf carts are a local hazard. CBS12 reported 16 citations and 9 golf cart crashes in six months, one fatal, and noted that carts are not allowed outside homeowners association communities, on roads with speed limits above 25 mph, or at night, and that carts over 20 mph need plates. If a golf cart or a low speed vehicle was involved in your crash, coverage can be unusual, and a lawyer can help figure out which policies apply.
Port St. Lucie car accident lawyer
With so much growth, drivers on US 1, Port St. Lucie Boulevard, Gatlin Boulevard and I-95 often meet unfamiliar roads, construction and heavy traffic. A Port St. Lucie car accident lawyer can review fault, PIP and uninsured motorist coverage. Treatment generally must begin within 14 days (Florida Statutes 627.736).
Port St. Lucie truck accident attorney
I-95 and the Florida Turnpike carry tractor trailers past Port St. Lucie, and construction vehicles and delivery trucks serve the city's new neighborhoods. A Port St. Lucie truck accident attorney can look at the driver, the carrier and the insurance involved. See the truck accident section of our Florida personal injury page.
Port St. Lucie motorcycle accident lawyer
Riders on US 1, Port St. Lucie Boulevard and the interstate share lanes with trucks and drivers pulling out of new developments. A Port St. Lucie motorcycle accident lawyer can help when an insurer argues the rider shared the blame. A person found more than 50 percent at fault generally cannot recover damages (Florida Statutes 768.81).

Fort Pierce accident lawyer
About 51,700 residents
Fort Pierce is the county seat of St. Lucie County, with about 51,700 residents (Census estimate, July 2025) and a Haitian community of its own. The city sits between US 1 and the interstate, with I-95 and Florida's Turnpike along its western edge and SR 70 (Okeechobee Road) running across it. That puts local drivers, highway traffic and visitors on the same roads.
US 1 and SR 70 (Okeechobee Road) cross the city, Virginia Avenue and Orange Avenue carry local traffic, and I-95 and the Turnpike meet SR 70 on the west side. Crashes near interchanges can involve drivers who do not know the roads.
The city itself has said crashes are a problem. WPTV reported that Fort Pierce has a higher crash rate than St. Lucie County and Florida overall, and the city adopted a federally funded Comprehensive Safety Action Plan to identify high crash corridors. The Florida Department of Transportation is also studying a 71 mile stretch of I-95 across Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties, covering 14 interchanges and 62 intersections, and describes the Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie area as one of the state's fastest growing (FDOT I-95 corridor study).
Growth next door
Port St. Lucie, in the same county, had 5,540 crashes in 2024, according to CBS12, and has grown from about 200,000 residents in 2020 to about 258,000. Much of that traffic passes through Fort Pierce on US 1, SR 70 and the interstate.
Fort Pierce car accident lawyer
A Fort Pierce car accident lawyer can review fault, PIP and uninsured motorist coverage and explain how they fit together. Florida's no fault system generally requires treatment within 14 days of the crash to keep PIP benefits (Florida Statutes 627.736), and an insurer may ask for a recorded statement within days, so get advice early.
Fort Pierce truck accident attorney
Tractor trailers use I-95, the Turnpike and SR 70 through St. Lucie County. A Fort Pierce truck accident attorney can identify the driver, the trucking company and anyone else whose negligence contributed, and can move quickly to preserve driver logs and vehicle data. For how truck claims work in general, see the truck accident section of our Florida personal injury page.
Fort Pierce motorcycle accident lawyer
Riders on US 1 and SR 70 face frequent intersections and drivers turning across lanes. A Fort Pierce motorcycle accident lawyer can help when the insurer argues the rider is partly to blame. A person found more than 50 percent at fault generally cannot recover damages (Florida Statutes 768.81), which is why the details of the crash matter from the first day.
Fort Pierce pedestrian crashes
US 1 and Virginia Avenue are busy for people on foot. A person hit while crossing may have PIP and uninsured motorist coverage in addition to the driver's liability policy, and a consultation can review which apply.

Is Port St. Lucie dangerous to drive in?
The Port St. Lucie Police Department says that, per person, the city ranks third safest among 19 large Florida cities, but it still had 5,540 crashes in 2024, about 15 a day. The city has added tens of thousands of residents since 2020. If you were hurt, the statistics matter less than the facts of your crash, and a consultation can review them.
What if a golf cart was involved in my Port St. Lucie crash?
Golf cart rules are strict in Port St. Lucie: carts generally are not allowed outside homeowners association communities, on roads with speed limits above 25 mph, or at night, and carts that go faster than 20 mph need plates. Coverage for a golf cart or low speed vehicle can be unusual, so call us to review the policies that may apply.
How do I get my Fort Pierce crash report?
Request it from the agency that worked your crash, which may be the Fort Pierce Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol or the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, or buy it through the state's Florida Crash Portal. Reports are confidential for 60 days except to the people involved, their lawyers and insurers.
What if the crash happened on I-95 or the Turnpike near Fort Pierce?
Florida Highway Patrol generally handles crashes on the interstate and the Turnpike. A crash with a commercial truck can involve the driver, the carrier and others, each with insurance. A free consultation can help you understand your options.
Do I need a lawyer if I live in Port St. Lucie and the crash was in Fort Pierce?
Where you live does not limit your claim. What matters is where the crash happened and which insurance applies. Lascaze Law represents people from Port St. Lucie and across St. Lucie County, and a consultation can review your situation.
How long do I have to file a claim after a Fort Pierce car accident?
For negligence claims that arose after March 24, 2023, Florida generally allows two years to file a lawsuit. PIP requires treatment within 14 days, and claims against government agencies have special notice rules. Exceptions apply, so speak with a lawyer as soon as you can.
